Errors When Configuring Certain 7.3 Maintenance Releases of Impromptu and Impromptu Web Reports on the Same Windows Computer

You will encounter errors in Configuration Manager on Windows during the apply process if you install any 7.3 Maintenance Release (MR) of Impromptu without also installing Impromptu Web Reports 7.3 MR1 or higher. The same errors occur if you install an Impromptu 7.3 Maintenance Release without installing Impromptu 7.3 MR1 or higher. The errors occur only when configuring Impromptu and Impromptu Web Reports that are both installed on the same computer.

Depending on your operating system, when you apply your configuration in Configuration Manager, you may see a General Protection Fault, or see some or all of the following error messages:

iwcreatedb.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
There were problems during the apply. Do you want to activate?

If you answer "Yes", in addition to a pop-up message indicating that the activate action failed, the following message appears:

The ordinal 124 could not be located in the dynamic link library CogSP7_1.dll.

If you answer "No" then no additional error messages appear.

To successfully configure both products on the same computer, you must install both products at 7.3 MR1 or higher before you apply your new configuration.

New 7.3 MR2 Properties do not Appear if a Version 7.3 or Version 7.3 MR1 Configuration Specification File is Opened on Startup

If you open a saved configuration specification (.ccs) file in Version 7.3 MR2, and the file was initially created in Version 7.3 or Version 7.3 MR1, when you try to apply the properties, only those available in the Version 7.3 or Version 7.3 MR1 environment will appear.

To avoid this problem, use the Open the Current Configuration option when starting Configuration Manager. All existing configuration information will appear, including both the new and changed properties.

To preserve your existing configuration information when installing Version 7.3 MR2 to a different location than that used for Version 7.3 or Version 7.3 MR1, export an Environment Script (.ccp) file from the Version 7.3 or Version 7.3 MR1 Configuration Manager and import it to the Version 7.3 MR2 computer. For detailed instructions, see the Configuration Manager User Guide.
