Features Not Supported in Series 7 Version 3

The following features are not supported in Series 7 Version 3.

Impromptu HTML Layout Formats

As of Series 7 Version 3, you can no longer specify an HTML rendering option of different Layout formats for objects such as a listframe, which can be rendered in an HTML frame.

The HTML Layout1 rendering option was used with old browser versions with limited frame support (for example, Internet Explorer 4.x). As Cognos no longer supports these old browser versions, such rendering options are redundant. The HTML Layout2 rendering option will be used automatically in Series 7 Version 3.

Impromptu File Save As Excel (Unformatted)

As of Series 7 Version 3, you can no longer do an unformatted Save As Excel.

Save as Excel saved data in Excel without any formatting. You can use Save As Excel with Format (*.XLS) to retain a high degree of formatting fidelity with your original report. If you want a simpler export format, consider using Save as Delimited ASCII (*.CSV).

Impromptu File Save As Lotus 1-2-3

As of Series 7 Version 3, you can no longer Save As Lotus 1-2-3 (*.WK1).

This file format is no longer a common desktop format. You can use another Save As command, such as Save As Delimited ASCII (*.CSV), and convert your file to Lotus 1-2-3 externally, if necessary.

NoticeCast Windows Client

As of Series 7, Version 3, the NoticeCast Windows user interface is no longer available.

In Series 7 Version 3, the functionality of the NoticeCast Windows client is now part of the HTML-based zero-footprint Upfront portal service. This change makes deployment of NoticeCast easier.

PowerPlay Web Dynamic HTML User Interface Capability

As of Series 7 Version 3, the PowerPlay Web Dynamic HTML user interface is no longer available.

Series 7 Version 3 continues to provide both the PowerPlay Web Enhanced and Generic user interfaces, which are also available in Series7 Version 2. No customer intervention is required to use the Enhanced or Generic user interfaces. PowerPlay Web continues to identify which UI the user's browser supports, and automatically displays that UI.

Cognos will continue to support the PowerPlay Web Dynamic HTML user interface for Series 7 (7.0) and Series 7 Version 2 (7.1), until their respective ends-of-life.

Supported Environments

For a complete list of software environments no longer supported in Series 7 Version 3, please check the relevant link on the Software Environments page for Series 7 Version 2 (7.1) on http://support.cognos.com.
